No Practice Thursday May 22

Post by Beef on Tue May 20, 2008 10:59 pm

Sorry I wasn't at tonight's practice. 2 reasons, I forgot it was tuesday (blame the long weekend) and I never put two and two together for this week. I work untill 1 hour after the practice is over every day this week so I won't be at thursday's practice either. I really would like to (I mean, who'd rather be at work than playing a game?) but I won't be able to. Reschedualing isn't really an option seeing as I would need to move it 2 hours back which would mean that it starts at 11:00 PM EDT which is not fair for those east of me.

If you wan't you can still try holding a practice on your own (that would be real great if you did) but with the turnout for many practices lately I think you'd all just rather take the night off and lvl some of your sailors. Have fun and I'll probably be back runing them at normal time and days next week.

I have a TW and we've run (and will run agian) torping / anti-torp manover practices. During which, if you have a TW you bring it and learn how to trap people in torps well they try to learn how to get out of them without dammage or as little as possiable.

Practice this week - less boring

Post by Beef on Mon Jun 09, 2008 6:00 pm

For this week's practices we will do some actual practicing on tactics. It will require a good number of players to come for it to be effective.

I'd like to limit ship power though, so a single player is less likely to own everyone so, here's the ideal turnout:
2 BB5 (1 per side)
2 BB4 (1 per side)
4 BB3 (2 per side)
As many BB1/2 as possiable
2 CV4/5 (1 per side)
As many other CVs as possiable
Support boats (AA, TW and anything you'd like to use)

These practices are aimed to be similar to fleet war mock ups. They will get us used to playing well as a team and assisting eachother in achiveing victory.

If anyone wants to get really into it this week, make a post in the "tips and tactics" section (http://teamcanada.forumotion.com/tips-tactics-f6/post-new-team-tactics-here-t510.htm#5057/) detailing a team tactic you would like to try using. No tactic will be turned down; we'll try each one out agianst other tactics to see what works well for us.

If the turnout is good, we'll do this next week too.

I know few people will read this due to the short notice, but I won't be at practice thursday.

And PLEASE read my post above this one about what type of practice we will be doing next week. Apprently no one who showed up to practice last night had read it.

I think we should have a newbie BB training session.

BB vs DDs, this will give the BB player practise with different ranges.

should be helpful, just a thought.

I wil try to be there... hopefully in my new NH or Brook if I get it (forgot which one the highest BO was aiming for)

Just for the sake of keeping things in one post, I think we should go with Jeff's idea, BUT have vet BB's (many if not all) be in the smaller ships IN CASE durning fleet wars they cant use a BB/CV, so they can keep solid ability in there smaller ships.

Excel, what you were suggestingis what Jeff was suggesting.

For this week we'll do BB vs DD. BB's will be players new to BBs and/or new to the BB they are playing (ie, if you just got a L1 this week bring it and learn with it.) All other players bring DDs or FFs; the idea is to be small and fast so you're hard to hit.

Im adding the "safe" factor- where jic out good players get run out of BB's (If per se, we HAD enough BB players to have that happen a LOT with a LOT of leftovers).

As for the ships: can we fire back? Mabye get BB1 newbies a feel for a good armour setting? (Cuz I know that having a Fubi pestering you with the torps can be deadly even with 255 Buldge (Trust me I just tried it- Vanguard vs 3Fubies on TS) (Ok I just lost myself there, hope you can make sence outta what I just said...)

Re: Training

I'm having some computer problems where my computer keeps crashing and/or won't turn on. I'm also having problems with my wireless internet so I'm using my laptop to piggyback off my neighbour's unsecured connection. Because of these problems I can't be sure if I'll make it to practices for the next little while. The good news is I've already ordered a new computer that comes on approx the 21st so I should be back up and runing this time next week.

I will try to make it to practices this week, but I might not be able to or I might crash mid-practice and not be able to come back to it or I might be 30 mins late. What an exciting week, we won't know what we'll get. Don't you love living on the edge like this?
