You really shouldn't bring back dead posts, but since you have I'll point this out. (Atleast you had a deicent reason for bringing it back from the dead)

CV vs BB games are increadably hard to balance. The CVs have an initional advantage due to their long range - high accuracy - high power attack. But as soon as a few BBs catch up to the CVs cowering in the farthest corner they can find they get raped by BBs due to their long breaks between being able to launch attacks.

Its very easy to have 1 or 2 CVs to many and the BBs get 0 attack or have 1 or 2 CVs too few that end up getting raped by 90% of the starting BBs.

Not a problem, I love shareing my knowldge. If anyone every has a question about NF try asking me. I actually know quite a bit or i'll atleast do some quick research to find the answer.

Even if I don't know, I'll probably know someone who does or how to get your question solved.

I think we should do FF/DD/CL vs BB traning so we know how to creep and get in some decent atc

I am surprised the number of our members who still are struggling to learn manual. I've been blitzing to level my KM line lately and have spent a lot of time with our lower level guys.

For anyone who's interested, I'm going to be holding a MANUAL FCS CLINIC this Friday, February 29th at 10pm-11pm EST.
(Thats 9-10pm Central, 8-9pm Mountain, or 7-8pm Pacific)

If you're interested, please bring a CA or lower and the guns you currently use the most often. (And of course, equip a manual FCS!)

FAQs around Manual FCS:
Q) Why should I learn it?
A) There are three big reasons to learn manual:
i) Accuracy: Doesn't matter how good your gunners are, manual spread beats auto spread 10 times out of 10. This gap increases as your level goes up.
ii)Consistency: One of the big problems with auto is consistency. It isn't exactly point-and-shoot. The angles sometimes change even without you changing the target area. With manual, there's a much smaller margin for error.
iii) Speed: This is the biggest one in my mind. Manual allows you to completely control your guns with one hand (keyboard), and ship course with the other (mouse). The biggest issue I've had with auto is that if you're firing at range but also trying to maneuver your ship, it's nary impossible. You're constantly switching back and forth. Once you learn angles, you can much more easily negotiate both at the same time.

Q) Is it easy?
A) No. It takes practice, like anything. But the sooner you learn it, the easier it is to transition.

Q) I've heard manual FCS can turn you blind and make hair grow on your hands, is that true?
A) No. That's excessive masturbation you're thinking of.

I know it goes agianst everything I've said on this subject before, but Good Idea Rogue. Apprently no one believes me or wants to take me up on my offer of come to me and learn manual.

I'll help out at this practice, I'll bring my nelly along for a target and a FF along when they get good.

And to add onto your FAQ:
No, it's not easier at first but, when you have been using it for a long time, many players (like my self) find auto hard to use. It is frusturateing because I am always over and under shooing with auto.

And thanks for clearing up my confusion between the 2 types of manual. So, its not the FCS thats making me blind...

When I first started playing NF i was using auto to about lvl 30 ...Then after I tryed out manual and loved it....Then I got the texas and loved using manual even more....you will not be good at manual at first but you will sure love the fact you know HOW to use it when you can block later on!

i think dodgeing torps is a very good skill to learn i will gladdly lend my time in my kuma-kai to help

Yikes! What have we done!?! Doing Manual FCS DOES make hair grow on your LEGS though!


Try manual people! Its actully easier than you think! I actully got it 3 tries after formal training with rogue! (thanks rogue!) Difficulty will vary per person, and I thought it would be hell, but it wasnt. Trick for me is to stick with a few good angles, 45, 40, 20 and 10 for me, and try to keep that range when fighting, and youll get the ones in between soon enough. Ho[pefully i dont get rusty with this forced break. (see jersyboys thing about REALLY not being allowed on, but I CANT get on because my dad changed the passwords, and only changed the main one's cuz I was on it. Hopefully he no see my backup "storage") acct on it.. eh heh heh!


Remember: Manual is only impossibe if you WISH it to be, so stop being so negitory! Think its easy, and it wil be, so long as you dont start thinking its hard durning training!
